The spectacular Kaitoke Regional Park covers 2860 hectares in the foothills of the Tararua Ranges. Explore the beautiful bush clad tracks, walk the Ridge Track for wonderful views of the Upper Hutt valley, or stay the night at the campground and enjoy the BBQ facilities. The park was also the filming location for exterior shots of Rivendell for the movie The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.
We set off from blue mountains road. The highway was clear, sky was slightly gloomy but nevertheless it was a scenic and enjoyable route.
Spotted some sheeps at the entrance to the park.
But they all ran away upon seeing us coming closer…damn!
Reached the entrance but still a distance to our intended spot in the park.
A one lane bridge we had to cross. If this is in Singapore, there should be frequent fights happening here. Hahaha! If you are interested to know more about the rules on a one lane bridge, i have attached the link here.
Reached our spot and behind us are the restrooms.
The famous archway!
A panorama view from the swing bridge. Simply awesome!
Discovered the path which leads to the stream which was also one of the film site for LOTR.
Natural spring water!
Spotted a team of ducks. Cute!
The camping sites, can’t imagine staying here when it is 3 degrees at night! Madness!
